Totts/Kodiak Shades and Primary Arms Micro Dot

Post by mpolans on Sat Dec 24, 2016 5:34 pm

I've heard that Totts/Kodiak come in versions for the Aimpoint H1 and for the H2. What's the difference between the two?
I've heard that one version of the shades would also fit a Primary Arms Micro Dot; does anyone know whether its the H1 or H2 version that fits?

Aimpoint H-1 front and back  1.102 OD H-2 front  1.105. H-2 rear .926. If I remember all of it correctly.  Totts shades are like 3-5 thou smaller and pressed on

Fred makes them for the Primary Arms MD-ADS. I have them on one of mine.

Thanks for the info!  Are they just press fit, or glued on? Do you have to disassemble the dot at all to put them on, or is it pretty easy?

They are press fit, usually with a large mill vise. Fred Totts prefers you send it to him for installation, that way you are sure it's done correctly.

Decided to change up my optics and mounts for the CF and .45

Purchased a Holosun HS403GL and installed it on my M52-1 using the BME H1 mount.
Like it.

Purchased the Kodiak mount and it lowered the dot some more.

Just got done mounting the Kodiak mount and Holosun to the .45, what a weight savings from the old setup.

Just ordered another Holosun and Kodiak mount to put back on the M52-1.

Back to the topic.
Also ordered a set of Kodiak H1 shades for the Holosun cause the front and rear measure 1.1015"
From what I have found is that the Primary Arms is made by Holosun.
Just going to install a shade on the front of both optics cause it is at the ejection port where the crap flies out just for protection of the front lense.

Just mounted a Holosun on a Tots 1911.. really compact setup.

This will go on a 38 super build.

As I stated in the above post, here they are.

They both lost some weight from the previous set ups.
The shades just press on, just used a vice and protected both ends, made sure shade was straight and turned the vice until I felt resistance and stopped.
Just be patient and feel what is going on, pretty simple.
