Will/are they allowed in competition?

No

Awww...Why not?! That's not fair!

I kinda feel that this would take a lot out the idea of improving your marksmanship skills/abilities. Kind of a cheater or short cut. Mostly a crutch and would hinder the learning process of it all.

If they were allowed, what would come next, allowing use of Ransom rests?

Tripod gun rest to steady your aim,.

I prefer high tech...
2 axis gyros, this would still keep the gun from being rested against a solid object and still in your control but should help you hold the x-ring.....then we could move to laser emitters and eTargets eliminating bullets completley.   No hearing loss, no reloading issues, no need for a spotting scope or brass net, no risk of lead poisoning, don't need to deal with recoil, don't have to score and absolutely not challenging or fun.

I mounted a bipod on my M&P 40 once.  I do think they should have a two hand shooting division for us old guys with the shakes.  The local club said it was ok and they have had people shoot that way I guess you would never win or get classified.  So I am just struggling along and getting better.  Don

Wesley, I should have welcomed you first, sorry for not doing so.   

I asked similar questions when I started last year and our humor should not be misread as rudeness or condescension.  One question last year was about whether I could shoot "2-handed"  as there was a section of the rules around that.  I had a similar concern to yours about holding the pistol still.  I was advised to just learn the way everyone shot and I'm glad I took the advice.    

As this sport is a competition against oneself, you will see quick improvements (regardless of whether you feel your hold is not stable enough to shoot one-handed).   Best of luck, there are some amazing shooters here who also know how to coach us long-distance.

Buncha jokers on this forum, don't let them mislead you.  You don't need to modify the gun, just adjust the target!

While technically that seems allowed under the arm brace rules its and artificial weight and attachment to the wrist. 

Take it to Perry and see what the Range officer says I am sure he will be cool about it.....
