Xesse FTF with new slide Empty Xesse FTF with new slide

Post by 7tcu Sat Nov 11, 2017 1:58 pm

I have a Xesse with Larry's tigger in it and I had to get a new slide. With the old slide it fired every time but also jammed each round, now with the new slide the firing pin hits the round but not hard enough to fire. I get about 1 in 10 going off. The old firing pin was about .010" longer so I swapped them but everything is the same.  Any ideas to help me out. Oh and I am still looking for those little balls that go on the safety rod.

are you sure the slide is closing all the way on your failure to fire.. the extractor on the X-esse has a fairly strong spring so any  slowing of the slide feeding the round may well keep the slide just a touch open as the slide has to move the extractor out of the way..

Also have you cleaned the chamber with a 25 cal. brush.. do the rounds just drop into the chamber...

how old are the mags you're using?

Mag's are new, slide seems to close all the way and the rounds do just drop in, I cleaned it with a 25cal brush anyway. The range is not that far away so i can go try again.

Well I went to the range and did a little better. If I make sure the slide slams closed I have better results but not always. So there is a little clearance problem. I did notice that this firing pin puts a much smaller imprint on the brass than any other 22 I have. Most of mine put a retanglar imprint on the brass and this gun only puts a very small imprint right on the edge of the rim.  The may have something to do with some of the misfires. I think I will put back the new firing pin and give it a try.   If you have any other ideas, just let me know, thanks

What ammo are you running in it.

Is this gun new to you?

With the old slide was the gun jamming when feeding

The gun is new to me, I am using CCI SV and the Aguila SV, The slide had a lot of slop in it and would extract ok but would not eject with all that slop. No jamming when feeding. I looked at both firing pins and the old one the end looked like a very small screw driver, the new one looks like end of a tooth pick. I took the rounds that would not fire in the Xesse with the old firing pin and put them in my S&W 41 and they fired ok. May be a combination of the placement of the primer in the cases and the small imprint these firing pins have. Just a guess on my part.

That thing needs to go to a gunsmith. I recommend Sams

sort of doubt your would have primer issues with two different brands of ammo.

I have a trailside and mine has a smallish firing pin also but the end is chisel shaped as most 22 firing pins are....  have you checked to insure the firing pin is protruding far enough when hit by the hammer by pushing it out and seeing how far it comes out compared to the breach face
.also be sure the firing pin spring is in correctly.. many springs will only fit correctly one way.. the spring should easily go back to it's stop on the firing pin and not stop short on the body of the pin

Baring that it may need to go to a smith who is familiar with the Hammerli line of 22s..

BTW you can order any parts for the X-esse directly from Walther. here is a schematic with part #s

The spring looks to their the correct way and the firing pin comes out and strikes the brass but is seems to make a small imprint, not unlike the other 22's I have. Who Is Sam? I have been getting parts from Larry's Guns so far. I wii recheck the spring tomorrow.

I had a problem conversion that did not close fully all the time.  It is a Sig 22 conversion for their P220.  The extractor spring was so strong that the head of the extractor rode the slope in the cut by the chamber.  that held the slide back just a little.  Clipped a couple coils off the extractor spring and all is well.

might think about a new recoil spring for the gun..

I didn't clip my extractor spring on my trailside but did polish the nose of the extractor so it would slide out of the way a bit easier.
