Starting out and have few questions.

What  are Your thoughts on 9mm vs .45 for NMC 300? (or any other precision 25-50 yards centerfire pistol ballseye shooting) Why so many people are now  shooting 9mm ?

Is stock S&W 952-2 or Les Baer PII (9mm or .45)  with match ammo good enough to be competitive in 25-50 yards precision shooting ?

Where would You start if You wanted a really good single stack 1911 in 9mm for BE shooting?

IMO 9mm is a little snappy shooting when you get the volicity up where it will group will.  I have many 9mms and like shooting them for action type shooting And have a SA RO in 9mm that is my best shooting gun for that type of shooting.  I carried a 9mm Shield a long time after replacing my 40 S&W Shield.  I switched to a 45 Shield.  Of course these are not BE guns except for the RO but one still must shoot them accuractly and 9mm will do that. I just think there is better choises for the Center Fire.  Don

9mm is more accurate than 45acp. Recoil is different between the two. Holes size is different and reloading for 45 is more forgiving in reloading than 9mm.

my experience anyways.

Yes, in general, two guns of high quality build, equal in every way except chambering.  The 9mm cartridge is generally more accurate due to higher velocity, flatter trajectory which results in a smaller group when shot from a Ransom Rest.

How much? Not enough to matter a lot in the real world and it does not mean EVERY 9mm outshoots every .45.  That is definitely not the case.

The slight advantage is nearly over-ridden simply in bullet size.  A 2” center to center group to the right will give the opportunity to score more points in .45 than 9mm as it is more likely to cut a higher scoring line on the target.

Once you take the Ransom Rest out of the equation, you lost the only way to make use of any further advantage in accuracy. Movement of the one handed shooter negates most all of the 9mm accuracy advantage.

Comfort to shoot all day, ease of custom reloading, shooting the same gun in CF and .45, and a bigger hole are some of the factors that make .45 the leading bullseye cartridge, even if it does not have the ultimate inherent accuracy of the 9mm.
