High Standard Gunsmith Empty High Standard Gunsmith

Post by tkleinma 8/23/2022, 5:29 am

I just dropped the slide on my High Standard Supermatic Citation Military Model 106. I cannot see any damage, but I can no longer fit the slide onto the frame.

Any recommendations for a gunsmith who might be able to fix this problem? I live outside the Phila area.

Thank you.

Are the slide rails bent?  Will the slide start onto the frame and then get too tight to go the rest of the way?  Or will it not start at all?

I cannot see the rails on the slide being bent but I cannot get the slide on the frame easily.  I think I bent the corner of the slide when I dropped it on the floor.

More than likely the rear of the slide bent on one rail. If you have a dial caliper you can measure rails for uniformity. Bending it back can do more harm than good. Might consider having inner rail taken down to refit instead.

High Standard Gunsmith Empty I FIXED IT

Post by tkleinma 8/23/2022, 12:33 pm

After very close examination with a magnifying glass I found a very small bend in the slide rail.  Using a very small flat file I was able flatten out the bend and the slide now fits perfectly onto the frame!!!!  YAY!!!

Thank you all for your comments.

You can send your pistol back to the factory and they do fantastic work quickly and within the budget!

Turn around was less than two weeks and customer service was fantastic. They did a repair on my pushbutton takedown and an overhaul on all the springs. I was very happy with the service and the price.
