SHIPPING ANY GUN, THE ANSWER
If your one of the 3-4 guys on this forum that want to argue. GO find someone else to argue with. This service simply works period! I have shipped two rifles and one handgun this year, the handgun was $48 from AL to MI, one rifle to ARK. from AL. $39 and one rifle to WV from AL $41. if your one of the people who find it too hard to drive to a UPS corporate HUB or store, Then I guess you don't want to ship it too bad. Go to shipmygun.com and start an order it will ask, what is it rifle? handgun? then weight and size box then you put a zip code in and WA_LA a whole list of FFL's pops up and the distance they are from your zip. PICK one. if you know of one that is not on the list have them send a copy of their FFL in an email and they will put them on the list. pay your money and within hours or the next day BOOM! there is your shipping label. Take your box to a UPS corporate ship center and hand them the box, THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT TO WALK IN THE DOOR AND ANNOUNCE "hey everybody I'm shipping a gun" The clerk won't ask! UPS ALREADY KNOWS WHATS IN THE BOX! They don't want anyone else to know. 2-3 days later it is delivered with a signature.

C- I just looked it up. It’s owned by Buds Gun Shop and that gives me confidence that it’s legit. Thanks for the heads up.
I did a test and Texas to California for a 3 pound small box was less than $50, including insured for $500. Nice.

I tried UPS for an antique rifle, a Marlin Ballard ...
FFL to FFL ... or the FFL could mail me a shipping label.
USPS, no questions asked...
I *GET IT* I'd do the same ...

Re: SHIPPING ANY GUN, THE ANSWER
Am I reading this right, a gun or maybe a frame can be shipped USPS without problems? I know UPS will not unless it's done thru FFL license.
Don't want to argue interested in knowing if I can ship a 1911 to and from my son without FFL expense. Cost me quite a bit to do it via FFL dealer!
Maybe I should apply for a license, had one but when on my way to Perry ATF wanted to set up a meeting. I asked if it could be done when I return in a week. Was told NO! At the time I was taking Adam to Perry, he did win Jr Champion that year!

This is what I know, Ship my gun will only ship too an FFL, YOU can ship to a gunsmith/ffl with no transfer and he can ship it back to you, no transfer, I just sent my S&W series E to Doug Jones IE: ACCU-RAILS, now here's the part that EVERYONE says you can't do, Doug Jones shipped my Series E back to me via USPS. Ship my gun uses UPS, as far as I know you cannot just ship a gun to your son, no transfer. MAYBE someone knows something I don't and that's not hard. LOL. you should have just given him the gun when you were together and yes in a locked box you can fly with a checked gun, long or hand, ammo also and quite ALOT of it too! The frame has the serial # and that's were the transfer comes in.Froneck wrote:Am I reading this right, a gun or maybe a frame can be shipped USPS without problems? Buds Guns owns this entity. They’ve struck a deal with UPS, somehow. Basically it appears that Buds convinced UPS to change their policy on what they will allow in terms of firearm shipments including and most importantly policy on handguns. The website explains it. And I say Hallelujah!

By transfer I assume you mean transfer a frame registered to me and send it to my son. No I want a frame that my son purchased and registered to him, he sends it to me so as to fit it properly and I send it back to him. Possibly all I do is a trigger job. Sometimes more.

Re: SHIPPING ANY GUN, THE ANSWER
if your a gunsmith, you can do that. other wise shipping the serial numbered part becomes problematic,Froneck wrote:By transfer I assume you mean transfer a frame registered to me and send it to my son. Re: SHIPPING ANY GUN, THE ANSWER
I only KNOW very little, and only about what I've learned by shipping my own stuff, shipping a slide or parts, not a problem. shipping a serial # part , you could probably ship it with no problem, BUT and a BIG BUT. If it was caught then here comes the ATF and the FBI and if it crosses a state line, you don't want to find out! you may just want to find a gunsmith for your sons frame and let them do the fitting, there are MANY competent smiths around and people on this forum can suggest several, if it GA or eastern AL. I can suggest one.Froneck wrote:OK thanks! That is what I thought, Thinking maybe there were changes. Not sue I want to go thru the hassle of getting a FFL again.

Re: SHIPPING ANY GUN, THE ANSWER
An individual cannot ship a handgun, serialized frame, etc., via USPS. No exceptions. Individuals can ship to an FFL/gunsmith via UPS, FedEx etc.
Only FFL licensed dealers can ship USPS providing a USPS form 503 is signed and certified when submitted with each firearm.

Kenn i want to be wrong, but I think UPS changed their common carrier policy, last year, to no longer accept a handgun from a non-FFL. They will only accept from an FFL to ship to another FFL.NYKenn wrote:An individual cannot ship a handgun, serialized frame, etc., via USPS. No exceptions. You may very well be right. Not surprising. UPS went to overnight in the past because of fire arms accountability. UPS was “losing” track of Guns!RodJ wrote:Kenn i want to be wrong, but I think UPS changed their common carrier policy, last year, to no longer accept a handgun from a non-FFL. While federal law requires use of common carriers, nothing requires the carriers to accept. Just another roadblock for legal law abiding firearms owners.

On the bright side, Buds Guns has made it possible again, and, if I’m reading the website correctly, they use Second Day Air. Less expensive than overnight.
