chopping lead round nose
Ive seen reviews of a hardened steel tube that was being sold to people so they could chop 22 lrn into 22 swc profile.
Did someone ever make something like this for 38 special/357/44
Or do i simply purchase a lee trim die, and use the redding die spacers to get close to the desired bullet length in a loaded case?

There is this:

But I’m absolutely not certain that hollowpointing a swaged lead solid bullet is a safe thing to do. You could just trim them in a standard case trimmer I suppose. Those are reasonably accurate…. But there are perhaps better approaches to the issue by bullet selection.

Neither the Lee Quick Trim, nor Wilson cut to center. I upgraded the Wilson to a Sinclair carbide cutter. If I can figure out where I stashed it, I could check if it does. But I really doubt it. Center cut endmills really don't plunge very well, very little chip clearance and zero cutting speed.
A file trim die and a coarse file or smooth cut rasp is probably a better bet.

This sounds like taking the long way around to probably still miss your destination. Why not just buy the desired ammunition or bullet to start with. If that is not available many bullet mold makers will make whatever you desire ( within reason of course ).
Just an opinion, Ignore if necessary.
