Ream and shine for Kart 45 ACP

Hi guys,

I need to ream my Kart X-act fit and Wanted to double check I have the right tool for the job.  Having a hard time finding the answer online for 45ACP


Is this the appropriate reamer for the job?

Also, I’ve read about someone using jewelry polishes to mirror polish the ramps—what do you guys like to use?

Aren't the Kart X-act fit .45 acp barrels already full chamber bored?

IIRC even X-act fit requires some hood trimming, after which it's very likely that the chamber will be a bit too short, so finish reaming may be needed. Always check it with some feeler gauges and/or precision ground block before reaming it.

Mirror polishing the ramp is absolutely not necessary and even not advised, because it alters the dimensions and angle, if done improperly, and even if done properly, it wouldn't improve anything. I would recommend leaving it alone.

Roger that. The ones (2 .45s 1-9mm) which I have done, did not require any chamber deepening. Luck of the draw I suppose. I would add that they turned out quite acceptable considering my 1st and only 3 so far. <3" at 50 yds.
