1911 only functions with 6 rounds in mag

70 series gov’t 1911 running a kart barrel. Using any of my mags from gov’t or my gold cup,,the gun will not load if i put 7 rds in the mag. I take one round out and the slide will load the round in the barrel. On all my mags, the nose of the 7th (top) round is dropping as the slide pushes on it, causing the nose to be caught on the bottom of the feed ramp of the kart barrel. Lead SWC, lead flat nose, and jacketed hollow points all do it. The end of the feed ramp actually puts a little cut mark on lead bullet.  With only 6 in the mag, they all load. 

Any new fancy follower that holds the nose up better?

Have you removed the slide and cleaned the top of the frame where the barrel beds when the slide is back? Carbon and goo can build up there and restrict the barrel movement.

Yes. Gun is clean.
There is space under the (7th) top bullet that allows the nose of that bullet to go down as it is pushed forward, catching the end of the kart ramp. That space is not there if only 6 rounds are loaded in the mag.

Was the barrel recently installed when the issue appeared?

Seems a bit odd that all of your magazines would have the same problem at the same time.

Barrel was in gun when purchased. Ramp is almost mirror polished. I tried my other mags to see if mag was the problem.

So, this is a new gun to you that you recently purchased?

If so it my be an issue wit how the barrel ramp was fit.

Yes it is used, but new to me. The ramp is one piece with the barrel.

My guess would be that the barrel was improperly fit.

The barrel isn't linking down/bedding properly, and/or the barrel feed ramp extends back too far in relation to the frame feed ramp.

The good news is that if you are using it for Precision Pistol you only load five rounds!

Exactly! I've never once loaded more than 5 rounds at a time in my Rock River (7rd) or Pardini (13rd) 45s

That is what i think. There is a step from the frame ramp to the barrel ramp. That is where the bullet catches. Jacketed 230 ball ammo will load. 

I did not know only 5 rounds were loaded to shoot competition. It loads perfectly with only 5 rds in the mag.  I just shoot at home and bought this because i was curious about bullseye guns,,and it was too cheap!
