trying to get better groups out of the old colt series 70 it has a red dot slide mount going to use 185gr bullets and clays powder right now I am loading 3.5gr clays with 11 pound recoil spring, thinking about getting a Wilson Group Gripper but the instruction say you need a strong recoil spring, has any one use group gripper with 11 or 12 pound Recoil spring, your thoughts?

The Wilson Group Gripper was bought out from Dwyer many years ago. It's basically a barrel link with a ledge for a spring within a special recoil guide rod that forces the barrel up into the slide lugs better. Basically poor mans accurizing device. Don't expect much from it Sad

It will also cause problems with the gun unlocking.  The link is not designed to lock up the barrel, only unlock the barrel.

thanks for thoughts Jon and KCand DavidR, sounds like I should save my money for another pistol, the old colt government seams to due ok at 25 yards just can't seam to get a 50 yard group. ( and it could be the trigger nut needs adjustment ).
