Hammerli 280 series pistol in .32 S&W long

Have any of you shot one of these, I am looking at one and was wondering if it is a rabbit hole I should go down.

Any 32 S&WL will be a challenge loading for 50 yards. If you can get H&N 100gr HBWC's it will be not so bad. Dave Wilson has developed a system where he can bump a .312 dia Speer up to .314 dia. My understanding is he is having great results at 50yds. I have had a great time developing loads for my 32. Most cast wadcutters are fine for 25yds. There is a definite learning curve with the 32. YMMV.

Thanks Bill, I doubt I would shoot it at the 50 yard line but for some reason the gun has some appeal.

I don’t have the 280, but I have the 32l in several other target pistols, and the 32l is easy to like. The bullet issue for reloading is easily solved with a swaging tool ( there is a separate thread on this). Mine are accurate, and a hoot to shoot. I believe the trigger is the same as the SP20, which is a very nice 2 stage.

Reloading does require more attention to detail than loading .45, but there are several recent threads on the subject. As indicated, not as big an issue for the short line.
