red dots... Empty red dots...

Post by 285wannab 2/14/2019, 12:30 pm

I recently purchased a new red dot with a 2moa.  While trying it out I noticed it had a negative magnification.  My first thought was to send it back.  But thinking about it and trying it more I am thinking it might be a good thing.  It makes the target smaller.  Smaller target smaller group???  I was wondering what everyone thought about it.  Should I return it or shoot with it?
Thanks

Sounds like you just purchased an UD.
“Run Forrest, run!”
Just kidding. Negative magnification is the enemy in my opinion. I find it to be detrimental making hold look worse. So unfortunately you get what you pay for. I use Aimpoints exclusively and one of the reasons is they do not have negative magnification.
That’s just me.

Return it. If negative magnification was good wouldn't rifle shooters use it?

I see negative  magnifications as only an issue if your a two eyed shooter who doesn’t occlude the off eye.
If no occlusion you’ll go mad, Mad, MAD!!!
