Hornady XTP vs HAP bullets - any difference?

I've been using XTP bullets and they shoot so nicely I haven't really looked any further.

With the ammo panic craziness in full swing, I figure it might be wise to broaden my horizons a little.

Hornady markets the HAP as just as accurate as the XTP except not made to expand. In general, can I expect the HAP to perform as well on paper as the XTP?

My PPC buddies swear by the HAP. Shot better than xtp in their revolvers. I've also heard of great results from 1911's

I HAVE TESTED BOTH EXTENSIVELY IN 9MM. WITH MANY DIFFERENT POWDER COMBINATIONS AND GUNS. THE 115GR XTP IS MORE ACCURATE THAN THE 115GR HAP. BUT NOT BY MUCH. ABOUT A .25" DIFFERENCE AT 50YDS.

 NOW THE 185GR XTP IN .45 WAS NO WHERE NEAR AS ACCURATE AT 50YDS AS THE NOSLER OR ZERO 185GR  JHP. I NEVER TRIED ANY .45 HAP.

A different Jim here....I have; both the Sierra 185 grains and the 230 grains.  I tested a box of each and my pistols didn't like either.  Back in the day, everyone used Sierra's 230 grains FMJ in their chase for points.  I never found those particularly accurate either and used Hornady's hardball bullet instead.
