Does Weaver 307 mount fit on the S&W Model 17 revolver?

I would like to know, if Weaver 307 mount fits on the Model 17 revolver. I want to buy a .22 revolver, which I will use for live fire training to save the .38 ammo. I plan to shoot my CF revolver (model 586) with a red dot. Therefore, I am looking for a .22 revolver on which I can mount a red dot. My options are S&W Model 617, which is drilled and tapped from the factory, or Model 17, which are not drilled and tapped, except for the latest "Classics" series.

I have a Weaver 307 mount, which is supposed to fit S&W K-frame revolvers, but I would like to hear from someone with first-hand experience of successfully installing this mount on a Model 17 revolver, or at least, seeing the mount on this revolver.
