38 ammo question

I'm new to this group. I thought I had posted this but must not have. 

I got some 38 special wad cutters from a relative. I know nothing about them. Can I shoot these in my Rock Island Arms M200? Do they make a good defensive round?

Yes you can shoot that Ammo in the revolver. 

Some people say it’s not a good defense round and some people say it’s okay for up close. Bottom line is it’s all about shot placement. And I’m a firm believer that if shot number one doesn’t do it, give them round two and so on until the threat is neutralized.
