Colt OM vs OMM?

How can you distinguish between the two? Is the OMM marked as such?

Colt Officers Model is an older target revolver, a Colt
Officers Model Match is within the same lineage, just a different generation. .. I think

so, only the later, fixed front sight, ones are legal, correct?

In DR, yes. I believe any are fine for CMP service revolver, which, let's be honest, is probably the only one we have to worry about moving forward...

As a factory option, the Officer's Model Match could be special ordered in a single action-only version.  Genuine factory models are rare.

This gun was the most accurate gun I ever had.  Not talking Ransom accuracy.  From the hand it would shoot Xs all day long IF your head was in the right place.  That gun showed me how quick your shots will stray if your head strays

I have one of these. In its day, it was the premier revolver colt made. The next “flag ship” gun was the python and there was a change in the firing pin and the frame. This revolvers firing pin was in the hammer. The python was a new generation of revolvers and its firing pin was in the frame.

I have 2 OMM 38 and 2 OMM 22.  They are shooters.  I wish I still had the SAO 38
