Ultradot on the slide?

My long awaited Baer is due the end of Jan. I have an Ultradot on my Marvel conversion and am a fan.
The more time I spend on the web the more slide mounted tube optics I see.  Some here say the dovetail is not sufficient to handle the torque/stress of riding the slide, but I see a lot of folks doing that.
What am I missing?  Is frame mount the best way?

You might be able to get a mini tube to mount on just the dovetail but a full tube generally needs a rail secured to the slide by tapping in a number of screws. Simple enough for a competent gunsmith to do.
