Short Stroke Trigger - Hammerli 208 215

I was training for rapid fire today and of 10 strings I probably short stroked the trigger 1/2 the time. Is there anything I can have done mechanically to prevent this?

1) Set the initial takeup as short as possible, but make sure there's still a tiny bit of initial slack in the trigger.

2) Set the overtravel as little as possible, but be careful that the hammer doesn't rub against the sear when it's falling.

Most 208 and 208S have soft reset; hard to feel. The first stage spring is the reset. Can’t really change any of that on 208. You have to learn to move trigger forward enough to reset 100% of the time.

I’ve shot it in three individual sessions and it’s continuing to short stroke. Twice I’ve experienced two shots when pulling the trigger once. Could these issues be related? How might I be able to inspect this?

Extremely beyond rare for 208 or 208S to double fire. I would check that the sear spring is providing enough pressure on the sear. It is screw adjustable.
