185 gn bullets for the 45acp and powder question

I have WW231 and Solo 1000 on hand. Will any of the 185gr bullets (for the 45ACP) shoot accurately with either of these powders?

I believe good loads CAN be found with either.  231 has more history with our community.  I’d start there at 4.5 and work to 5.1 of WW231.

As for Solo 1000, I’d try the same range.  In any case, I’d stop at a velocity of 800-825 fps from a 5 inch barrel.  You don’t need more.

 At 800-825 is that still fairly soft shooting?

I used Solo 1000 years ago with great results.  It is a very clean burning powder and flows through a powder measure well since it is a ball powder.  I never had good luck with 231 as it is a flake powder and does not flow well.  Just my opinion a dollar might still get you a cup of coffee at McDonalds!!!!

Either Lead Or Jacketed...seems the plated bullets are not thought very highly of.

It matters for the powder charge, jacketed takes more.

Win 231 and Zero bullets are a great combination

Thanks Fellows. Ordered some 185s JHPs from Zero

For Lead 185 grain Bayou Bullets SWC I have used 4.4 grains of W231 with a .464-.465 crimp and have been happy with them.
