Grip tape on 1911 for CMP?

You can use grip tape as long as you do it on the front.I use skate board tape on the front strap of my Range Officer.

The regs now say that the main spring housing may not be covered.I thought I remembered when we used to be able to put grip tape on there also we just couldn't go all the way around the grips.

It is in table 3 page 35 of the CMP pdf. You can put grip tape on the rear of the grips and on the front strap.
