Clean a Target... Show us!

Post by DavidR on Wed Apr 08, 2015 1:13 pm

Just thought we could all use some Positive Reinforcement so I made this a "sticky" which means its always at the top in this topic. So when you shoot a clean target and want to hoot a little post it here for all to see!  cheers

Here is what I did last night at our weekly indoor league, 50 ft on the NRA reduced target, shot Timed fire style in four strings of 5 shots, we hang two targets at a time. 100 6x and a 100 7x this was a first for me to clean two in the same set of targets. Ended with a 493 26x out of possible 500.

Here's mine...

Here is my first cleaned target (the 5X) and my best cleaned target (8X). Both were indoor Timed Fire with 22 at 50 ft.

Here's one from last night.  Windy, so I thought I would set the cameras up and record me calling the shots.  Surprisingly good target for me.  These are too few and far between.  When I can do it at 50 yards in the wind, I'll be pleased...It was a 3x, not the 4x I wrote on the target, by the way.

So far, it looks like I have the best video but the worst target.  Smile   I can live with that.  Success on the inspiration aspect based on the other targets I see, that's for sure.

First clean along with a personal best-2478 to boot! Thanks Lateif Dickerson for teaching me to shoot and his coaching and encouragement and to Ed Hall for the continuing, virtual coaching. Love this sport!

Here's my first EIC legal clean target.  I shot it in the Centerfire stage of an 1800 in Sheboygan in the spring of 2015.

That "iffy" one is in there with an overlay.  This target was shot with 185gr Zero JHPs.

Here is one from last week.  I've cleaned 4 targets in practice over the last two months in rapid fire.  Need to do one in a match.  I also need to shoot 95 from the long line in a match.  I know I should "get over it" but I'm not quite there yet, although seeing the 100's come more often is certainly a good indicator that I'm improving with good practice.

Last rapid of the CF match on Sunday. Almost a 10x.

CF Agg was an 889-53x; Grand Agg was a 2646-138x.

Some good looking targets, guys!  Glad I'm helpful, MIke.  John Wax, come up to our Sectional and show us how to do that.  John Bickar, come on, I expect a little better from you!  You barely damaged the actual X. Razz   Seriously, Great Target!

I might have to look and see if I've got any to show...  I know I have some targets with "stories."  If I post them, I'll need to include the stories and some of my stories get long...

Ed, it was the first match of the year, so I had to suffer through an entire outdoor 2700 in 65° temperatures with no wind. Have some pity on us out here in California.

I'll try to do better next time.
