Bob's Bullets - 45 ACP 160gn SWC
Anyone have any experience with the 45 ACP 160gn SWC bullet from
Bob's Bullets out of Tallmadge, Ohio ?
Do they shoot as well/as accurate as the Dardas 160gn ?
How is customer service?
I would like to find a replacement for the Dardas 160 if I can.

Re: Bob's Bullets - 45 ACP 160gn SWC
Just received the bullets. Ordered them at the suggestion of Dave Salyer who’s been using the 160 gr bullets with 4.5 grains of Bullseye powder for years at both the 25’ and 50’ lines with great results.
I will load to his specs and try them out.
Customer service is excellent. Spoke to Bob, one of the owners, and a competitive Bullseye shooter, who’s been loading with same specs.

They're good. I've known Bob longer than I've been alive.
I shot a ton of them when the business was known as Quality Cast in a previous incarnation (before he sold it and quality reportedly declined).
I test drove some of the Bob's this spring and had a 200-15x Timed Fire match and a 198-7x Rapid Fire match. Couldn't blame the bullets for the 9s. They shoot just like the Valiants and the QC 160s.

I'm using them for short line in both my 45 revolver and semi auto. They are great!

It's also worth noting that Bob is a Distinguished Pistol Shot and a 2600 Club member.
I have never seen anyone work longer or harder for their last leg points than Bob. He has been an inspiration for me, never more so than when I was struggling (and repeatedly failing) to get my last rifle "leg".
Not that it's necessary to be a good bullseye shooter to make good bullets, but it does give you context that he knows bullseye.

Re: Bob's Bullets - 45 ACP 160gn SWC
I received my order from Bob's and have now shot a couple hundred. Works just as well as the Dardas so I am a happy camper. Works very well at 50yds. (4.1 WST, 1.16 OAL, .463 crimp, slide mount optic)
There was an issue with my order but Frank provided great customer service and resolved the issue very quickly.
The bullet is the same as produced by Dardas so I am able to load them exactly the same. In talking to Frank I learned that their equipment & mold for the 160 they use is the same that was used by Dardas. The only difference is the type of lube but as mentioned they perform as well /are as accurate as the Dardas and I see no indication of leading issues. I didn't weigh them to see how consistent they are but based upon how accurate they shot at 50 yds there are no issues

From people's experience, does the 160 gr SWC have noticeably less recoil than the 185 gr SWC? Or is it slightly less recoil? Thanks.

IMHO they are slightly less. I like the felt recoil impulse I get from them and the fact that depending on where you buy your 185s a person can purchase nearly 3k 160s for the cost of 2k 185sjoy2shoot wrote:From people's experience, does the 160 gr SWC have noticeably less recoil than the 185 gr SWC? Did you reloading between five shot strings? Just curious. I've always wanted a GT45. It's on my short list.

Re: Bob's Bullets - 45 ACP 160gn SWC
I loaded all 10 in the magazine. I love my GT45, the previous owner said he could only get it to run jacketed bullets. I don't know if he fixed a magazine problem or what but this thing eats ammo like a rugger 22. And pretty accurate to boot! Zero jhp over 4.3 WST tighten up nicely. Here is another one with Bob's 160gn

I like the Bob’s bullets, but I am spoiled now by the Brazos Hi-Tek gold ones. Also 160g, and a whole lot cleaner in my gun.

Anybody have any results with these the Bob's, the Brazos, or any other 155-160gr SWC at 50 yards?

Re: Bob's Bullets - 45 ACP 160gn SWC
I'm pretty sure both Brazos and Bob's uses the same mold made by Magma Engineering. I actually bought the mold last year to make my own but have bought the Hitek coated ones from Brazos also, they look the same. I like them as much or more than a 185 H&G 68 bullet, slightly less recoil and seems to shoot about the same but I haven't ransom rested to compare. When I first used them I loaded a couple mags alternating the 160 and 185 grain bullets and the 160 were just a bit milder. My gun is tight and has a heavy dot so with either bullet I've got to get the charge up to where it will function with a 10# spring.
