Electronic Target Systems
Anyone have any advice, opinion or recommendations on the various electronic target systems that are available for use with an air pistol at 10m at home?
I tried searching for past threads, but came up blank. I know that this subject has come up before, if anyone can point me to the relevant thread that would be great. Thanks.
I just found the thread I knew existed. On Target Talk

Re: Electronic Target Systems
Never mind I though you were talking about turning targets. I made a custom bullet trap with a lead backer and lights for my basement and use a spotting scope.

I dunno. I compete on Megalink systems and there is also Sius and Kongsberg in the market. My basement range is a .22 bullet trap and a spotting scope. Maybe a SCATT system at home would fill in for the electronic systems at a competitive price.

inband air is one that I have considered. Bigger names would be athena and megalink. The king being suis as that is required for top tier competition.
Personally don’t have one, haven’t quite justified one.

Since I looked them up here are links:

I think part of my reluctance of the electronic systems is you still need to have consumable target faces and paper rolls. Is it really an advantage on a small scale compared to Kruger targets?

I think to some extent it depends on range location. A friend of mine has his air gun range in his basement with the pellet trap at the end of the crawl space. In that case electronic would be a greater benefit. The possibility of data recording and being able to visualize the overall group size for a series of shots is cool.

The handcrank target carriers worked well and used ones can be found. There were even motorized versions made.

I am not intending to be contrary but the electronic systems are expensive. If it is something someone wants, great.

I have the manual system that sa-tevp. I no longer have an airgun, but I loved this target system when I was shooting everyday. It was convenient and helped check targets without moving feet and whatnot. Plus it was significantly cheaper than the electronic systems.

Sa-tevp made a very thought provoking comment
Is it really an advantage on a small scale compared to Kruger targets?
I am stuck at home and had been printing targets on ordinary copy paper - it is hopeless for 10 shots on one target. As usual I was over-thinking the problem. I saw one of ZaneJ's videos and immediately started to think about an electronic target. But as I am only usually here for a few months each year and I am not "dedicated" to AP practise, it is very hard to justify ~$1k for an electronic kit.
I have not found a local source of decent targets - but Kruger Germany can ship - lets see what that might cost. KISS!
Appreciate all of the helpful advice and comments though.

Re: Electronic Target Systems
The Kruger targets are one of the nicer things in life as the cardstock makes for sharp clean holes. Champion's Choice and Cibles Canada Targets are other sources. I put about 20 shots on a target (usually until I can't call/find my shot) before replacing the target. I keep the used targets for taking notes on my workbench or cutting down for grocery lists.
The Air Pistol targets also make good 25 yard rifle offhand targets if I am testing a rifle at an indoor range.

Re: Electronic Target Systems
The Orion paper targets (champions choice #TAR004C) are good too, from a paper perspective. My only issue with the 4 bull targets is that they don't fit my pellet trap.

Re: Electronic Target Systems
Thanks for suggestions re alternative paper (pasteboard?) targets.
I am currently back at my primary "home" in Thailand (long, boring story) and cannot just hit " buy" on Amazon.
I have a standard pellet trap and one I made to suit A4 paper "ten bull" prints. The latter were fine last winter when I had a red dot on the AP. But now I want to train seriously with iron sights and sub-6 hold, so BDM (Black Diameter Matters)!
I placed a tentative order with Kruger Germany, expect that I will get the confirmation of shipping cost (6kg) by their Monday. Step by step!
I experimented running some thick card through my printer today, OK. Happens that I am also trying to fine tune a custom front sight post, a new grip, experimenting with corrective lens/apertures, and new range setup simultaneously. Chaos!

Re: Electronic Target Systems
Just glue the printer paper to a cardboard box like a cereal box or heavy construction paper. Sharp crisp holes.

There's also this interesting project: https://free-e-target.com
I've been thinking about an electronic target myself, and playing with RaspberryPI and global shutter cameras, but I haven't made a lot of progress yet...

Re: Electronic Target Systems
Kruger has a US site. I ordered from them in the past. Shipping is a bit high, but the targets are great.

Re: Electronic Target Systems
I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for, as it’s not an actual electronic target system. I bought an old vcr camera, and then ran a rca cable to a tv I set up where I shoot. I can display a closeup of my target while I shoot.
