Old Clark 6" 1911 Wadcutter Gun, Still Relevant?
I have an old Clark Sr. 6" .38 Wadcutter 1911. Are they still relevant, is there still a market for them? Im contemplating selling it since I never shoot it anymore.

Anything from Jim Sr is still relevant. I doubt you'll have any issues finding a buyer.

I have someone who will take it, if the price is reasonable.

Id have to research todays going prices but id guess around $2000. I also have 3 Colt mags that would come with it.
Unfortunately, they are the modified Colt Nat'l Match mags and not Giles modified mags. They still work though.

I'll ask him. Mags are not a problem. I've been using Triple-K's in mine with no problems.offrdmania wrote:Id have to research todays going prices but id guess around $2000. I also have 3 Colt mags that would come with it.

These mags have the little bar welded to the center of the follower to raise the round up just a hair, I guess for better feeding. I never had an issue with feeding out of them. It is my understanding that this gun would have originally come with Giles style mags and not Nat'l Match mags.cdrt wrote:I'll ask him. Mags are not a problem. I have a somewhat related question.
Is there any way to determine who actually built the gun? I have a long heavy slide purchased in 1982. Would there be any markings anywhere to signify which gunsmith did that gun?
It could be Sr., Jr., or one of their understudies. And would it make a difference in value?
Thanks
Darrell

This gun was built in 1970 so I doubt Jr did any work on it. He would have been 13 years old at the time and I doubt his dad would have him building customers competition guns. The 6" guns were most definitely built by Sr at this time since he would be the one welding up the barrels and slides. There are no builder marks other than a build date engraved on the underside of the slide and the name Clark on the side of the slide with the shop location. Pretty much, if it is Shreveport, La marked, this was the first shop and probably only Sr. was doing the building. Later on as Jr got older, im sure he had some hand in the building of the guns.djperry2 wrote:I have a somewhat related question.
