Evansville-Chrysler 1942 230gr Ball Ammo Test Targets (25Y & 50Y)
Hello,
Recently, I had the opportunity to test some WW2 45 ACP ammunition. The ammunition presented here is some 1942 230 grain ball steel case ammo that was made by the Evansville-Chrysler plant. Sadly, I only had 8 rounds to test. I'm including 25 & 50 yard targets, which of course were shot simultaneously, for your review. Some notes:
1) I only had 8 cartridges to test. 7 shots made it to the test target area for 50 yards- one shot didn't make it to the repair center (it was probably an 8 to the left of center- if it didn't make it to the repair center, I didn't attempt to score it).
2) The 25 yard target includes all 8 shots.
3) The average velocity for the sample is 812 FPS, SD is 17 FPS, and ES is 39 FPS.
4) Samples were shot from a barrel tester.
5) The barrel was a replacement S&W made for the 1911A1 in the 1960s.
Thanks,
Chase

No, this was a CMP 1911 barrel I pulled from my pistol. Wanted to give the ammo a rack grade experience before sending them to Valhalla. Or the berm, as it happens.
