Lightest 45 acp load
What's the lightest 45 acp load you've seen someone using?

I shot a Jon Eulette-built 1-13 twist .45 last year using 2.8 BE w 200 or 185 lead…I can’t remember which. He let me use it for a couple weeks. Pretty sweet.

Re: Lightest 45 acp load
Many years ago when, I tried to find a light load, I got some bad leading in the barrel. I started at 3.2gr N310 and worked up but nothing would group worth a damn, even my previously known good load. The barrel was pretty heavily leaded up. This was Star swaged (soft) lead bullets and a Kart barrel in the early 2000's. The Zero 185 LSWCHP is very similar to the old Star bullets, but if I didn't have 10k Star and Zero bullets in the basement I would be trying some of the coated bullets that are now available.
I had good luck with 3.6gr Bullseye with Star 185gr lead bullets back in the day. It was accurate enough for me to progress up through the classifications to Expert. I've shot WST loads down to about 3.7-3.8gr but I didn't shoot that load any better than my long line 4.2gr load so I stick with the same load at 50 and 25yds.

Be careful going too slow...at air pistol velocity you can get a lot of flips. Gotta get there on time man...

I shoot 185 SWC with 3.7gr N310 with results in the high 600 fps.
A lot of powders will give you dirty brass and gun when using low loads.
Currently I use about 3.9+ of N310, still get some dirty brass.
If you have a heavy gun, I think going for very low is not a profitable goal, with the dirt and possible lack of accuracy
