Looks like a Chinese knockoff of a Noga (Israeli) articulating arm:

I've used Noga dial indicator holders in the machine shop for decades. Good gear.

Thank you for sharing!
What kind of a box do you have?
Do you have difficulty tightening the scope mount in order to put the scope away since the knob is too close to side?

Or Manfrotto articulating arm variant - https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=manfrotto%20articulating%20arm&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=psjmoore wrote:Looks like a Chinese knockoff of a Noga (Israeli) articulating arm:

In combination with Manfrotto Clamp / Stud - https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=manfrotto%20clamp&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ps scopes (and many other things) can be mounted to tables, pipes, chairs, etc.

it's no harder than turning the knobs on the back of the scope and on the box lid. the angle piece gives a lot of room so if you had a straight scope, it might be a bit harder, but they rotate so you can get at it from other angles.
regarding the box, I make them. had offered them for sale once, but was quickly poo-pooed so I gave up and only make when needed. This one is an early prototype that my wife uses as it was a bit too small for me.

Re: New option for scope mounts
Somewhat related to what AP posted, a photographers spring clamp with a mini ball mount works well too.
