Loading .38 HBWC

In loading the 148g HBWC, is the remaining airspace compressed, or does the air leak out?
In other words, does the finished round contain compressed air?

Sometimes, when it's quiet I can hear the air escaping my loaded rounds. Sounds like a mouse fart.

 You must be getting some poor quality gas out there Jon. It's probably higher priced in your area too, $3.31 for 10% ethanol here.

I can hear the ringing quite clearly. Metallica didn't help either.
