How old is this Eley Tenex?

I just saw something that must be ancient!



The plastic box on the bottom was issued to me in the mid to late 1990's.
Anyone have an idea how old the cardboard box above it is?

Any idea if it's safe to shoot?

I would guess '80's. If the lead is not corroded should not be a problem, IMHO

Early 1980s at the latest.  I found a “brick” in loose boxes a few years ago for $9.99 each box…., shot good.

I still have the remnants of this, that was issued to me in the 1970s at Camp Perry.
Accuracy was outstanding then and still is.

Still shoot it occasionally for accuracy confirmation and sighting in new firearms.  Functions and shoots without issue.

That paper box ammo shot better for me in a Ransom  Rest than newer Tenex. In my TOZ 35, it shot 3/8” at 50 meters.  I wish I had more..

Had some (500rds) issued to me by Crane when I had a Navy Small Arms Competition Kit (SACK) that included an Anschutz 54 prone rifle.  The Western SuperMatch Mark III shot better than the Eley Tenex, but they were different torque settings on the bedding screws and I had 5000 rds of Mark III

I've still got a few boxes of the Western Super Match Mark II, it shot really well.  I've got a bunch of the TenX like in the second picture.  It will still shoot little bity.  I think it is from the 90's.
