Back to EIC legal? Empty Back to EIC legal?

Post by Swarfmonger Thu May 03, 2012 1:34 pm

Hello All,
I am a service rifle shooter that wants to throw my hat into the bullseye pistol ring. Especially since the club I'm a member of just built a 20 point bullseye range with all of the trimmings here in Southern California! While I have a pile of questions, my first one is this: years ago I purchased a series 80 gold cup and over the years have performed several modifications to it,including installing a beavertail grip safety. If I replaced the beavertail with the original grip safety, would I be able to shoot this pistol at EIC matches including interservice and perry or has the fact that the frame horns have been cut to accommodate the beavertail forever disqualify this pistol from being used in leg matches?

Thanks,
Dave

As long as there is nothing else that is considered illegal, the rules expressly allow that a pistol that has been modified to fit a beavertail safety can be used if the safety is replaced with an as-issued grip safety.

Thanks for the reply! I didn't see that in my 2008 edition of the rule book. I guess it's time to either look harder or get a newer copy.

Thanks again,
Dave

Might need to check a 2012 edition, sometimes changes are made.
