S&W M41 scope base question

I think I’m going to have my non drilled and tapped barrel drilled and tapped.  From what I’m seeing I want a weaver #62 base.  If I’m wrong please correct me before I order the base.  Does that base allow me to mount say a ultradot very rearward on the barrel?  I want that dot as far back as I can get it. 

Edit:  it’s a 5.5” barrel

I tried one of LSP's heavy bases and did not like the added weight, but the quality was good.  I can't find a link to one.

I’d use one of these...interchangeable with the Weaver but Picatinny so it has more options for mounting.

Always the odd duck I prefer the Weaver #401. This lets you mount the base all the way to the back of the barrel. You do have to remove the rear sight.
