Taper or roll crinp on .38 special wadcutter for S&W 52?

For S&W 52-1 is it better have taper or roll crimping? commercial, like Winchester are roll but Gill Hobart hand load .38 special taper crimp ( see "The Pistol Shooter's Treasury")

I'd stick with the moderate roll crimp.

I suggest using the same roll crimp as the factory target loads used.

Roll helps it feed. I had trouble with taper in mine

Roll crimp. One of the guys here has one. I tried my taper crimped rounds in it, versus roll crimp. It definitely liked the roll crimped rounds better.

I like a roll crimp for my 1911A1 .38's. For the revolver I've tried both, and it doesn't seem to make any difference...........

I always used a taper crimp with my 52-1. I never had any problems. The old Winchester match ammo was taper crimped. I'm pretty sure that the roll crimp came about for PPC competitors for ease of loading the revolver cylinders. Either crimp works, so there is no wrong answer. See which one gets the best accuracy and feeds in your 52 and use that!

From what I have heard, this may also be the best choice for 32S&W long.

Ordered a Redding die. We shall see. My 52 is dandy at 25, but 50 yds, not so much.
