Old Gunslick gun grease

I came across a couple tubes of Gunslick Protector gun grease, they look pretty old, no date stamp though.

There is a small gash in one of the tubes, and it oozes something that really looks like caramel. Is it the original color of this grease?
Is it a good lubricant or just garbage?

Mine was black, like Graphite.

Dark brown. But that's a 40 yo memory.

Regular Gunsick grease was black, the Protector grease was made to compete with RIG and was light brown.

May have been RIG ... 40 years ago ...

I've barely scraped the top of the 5 lb can of ''Molybium' grease a friend gave me. Yes, Molybium. I figure that avoided paying a license fee to the Molybdenum Association.

There doesn't seem to be any enthusiasm regarding the quality of this find as a gun grease.
I'll use it for cooking then.

As far as I know, it's been discontinued for a while.

So it's possible that some folks have never seen it.


Personally, it was always one of my favorites.
