Hammerli X-ESSE-- red dot rail ?
Does this pistol need to be drilled and tapped to attach a red dot rail?
i cant seem to find a picture of the rail attached method on this pistol.
I'm trying to find a better pistol for my wife and she needs a red dot to shoot. (might be old eyes) Shhhh don't tell her. lol

depending on the model it should have an 11mm rail on top of the barrel. simply buy scope rings that attach to an 11mm rail for it. stupidly, the highest grade, i think the expert or whatever with the wood grips lacks the rail so would need some kind of adapter. I think redfeather has X-Esse red dot adapters that attack where the barrel weight does in stock right now or will soonermakevin wrote:Does this pistol need to be drilled and tapped to attach a red dot rail?

If you have a 4 1/2 " barrel, this might work on a 6" but I am not sure.ermakevin wrote:Does this pistol need to be drilled and tapped to attach a red dot rail?

I ran a matchdot with rings for the 11mm rail (if your gun has the 11mm rail). The only disadvantage was that it put the scope a little further forward than I would have normally liked. I guess you could combat that by just running both rings in front of centerline of the scope body, but I can’t bring myself to do that.
