Metal for Front Sight Empty Metal for Front Sight

Post by DeweyHales 6/2/2014, 10:47 am

I like to hold center.  In rifle this is fine.  My front sights are wider than the black.  For pistol, my front sights are narrower than the black.

I've tried sub-six, but I am too inconsistent.

What I'd like to do is make my own front sight.  What kind of metal is strong enough for this purpose?  Small pieces of steel/aluminum are reasonable, and I have cutting tools and files.  I figure I can blue or duracoat the metal after it's done.

My options are: aluminum, stainless, cold roll, or hot roll.

Best regards,
D

Welllll since force=massxacceleration and the sight itself has little mass; my guess would be what you're most comfortable working with
I personaly would go with the cold rolled first because it's more homogeneous than hot rolled and it's easy to blue
