Revolver grip Empty Revolver grip

I started shooting a little more revolver with the intent of shooting some Distinguished matches. Yesterday I tried having my thumb up high 1911 style. It seemed more comfortable. Is there any validity to that?I have some old S&W target grips that I put on my 686. They aren't truly symmetrical, are they allowed?Revolver grip Img_2814

If it has a thumb rest, they are not legal for Distinguished Revolver, but they are legal for Harry Reeves.

If the only reason they aren't symmetrical is because there is a small cut out to make clearance for the cylinder release button, that's ok.
